BRUSSELS, July 1 (Reuters) – US online retail giant Amazon (AMZN.O) has made it easier to cancel your membership to its fast shipping club Prime with just two clicks, following complaints from consumer groups, the European Commission said. Said Friday.
The European Consumers Organization (BEUC), the Norwegian Consumer Council and the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue submitted their complaints to the EU executive in April last year.
He said users had to overcome several hurdles, such as complicated navigation menus, slanted terminology, and confusing options to opt out of Amazon Prime.

The commission said the company will now allow users to unsubscribe from Amazon Prime in two clicks via a conspicuous and clear “Cancel” button.
The changes will take effect immediately for all EU websites, as well as for desktop, mobile and tablet devices.
“Consumers should be able to exercise their rights without pressure from platforms. One thing is clear: manipulative designs or “dark patterns” should be banned,” Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said in a statement.
Amazon said: “We’re making it clear and easy for our customers to sign up for or cancel a Prime membership. We constantly listen to feedback and look for ways to improve the customer experience where needed. We are doing that here after constructive discussions with the European Commission.”
