Big E had some good news regarding a neck injury in his last update. The former WWE Champion suffered an overhead belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland on the March 11 episode of SmackDown and landed on his head, fracturing vertebrae C1 and C6. Fortunately, the injury did not require surgery as his spinal cord was not damaged, but the elderly man was in a neck brace for several months.
“So all in all I got really good news,” E said in his initial statement about the injury. “C1 and C6 are actually fractures, not dislocations, I thought, which is a very good thing, and there is no damage to my spine. No torn ligaments, no surgery, for which I’m very grateful. And a pro tip. If you want to break your neck, do it in Birmingham. You were great. Everyone here at UAB has been great. But really, it meant… a lot to me. Many of you were so kind and got in touch, stayed to see me, text me. I know I feel like a broken record but I’m so thankful that I am and I’ll be fine. So bless you.”
He confirmed he was done wearing a neck brace earlier this summer, then wrote on Monday: “Update! My C1 is not ossifying (bone formation) yet. Current plan is over a year.” Need to get the scan and see how it goes. The good news is I feel great and surgery is off the table.”
Update! My C1 is not ossifying (forming bones) yet. The current plan is to get more scans after a year and see how it goes. The good news is I feel great and the surgery is over.
