Gurney, Ill. (PRWEB) August 23, 2022
Brightstar Care, the leading home care and medical professional franchise with more than 365 locally owned and operated locations nationwide, announced today that it is acquiring eight Brightstar Care locations from its franchisee, David Strasberg. Eight agencies are located throughout Alabama and Florida. They will now operate as Brightstar-owned agencies, which is the largest Brightstar-owned acquisition since the brand launched the program in February 2022.
Brightstar Care formed Brightstar to expand the brand’s in-house presence and used these agencies to expand its franchised locations as test sites for new technologies and processes. The Brightstar-owned agencies will also introduce new payer and reimbursement models and accept Medicare Advantage plans and other key national account recommendations as part of their business model. This is especially important as the healthcare ecosystem is rapidly shifting in a direction where Medicare Advantage and other reimbursement models are gaining acceptance across the home care industry. Brightstar Owned intends to leverage its agencies’ insights and key insights to help Brightstar Care franchisees improve their ratings, diversify their skilled care offerings and operate at scale.
Strasbourg will oversee operations of all eight Brightstar-owned agencies in Alabama and Florida and will oversee continued expansion in those two states, transitioning from owner to vice president. Over the years, Strasbourg, his leadership team and nursing staff have built a reputation for quality care in the communities he served. All eight locations specialize in pediatric care and accept Medicaid referrals. The Strasbourg agencies offered unique value propositions in terms of team quality and scope of pediatric care, making them a key area of Brightstar ownership as the company seeks to add value to franchisees in the new revenue model.
“For the past 20 years, Brightstar Care has provided quality care to seniors and families across the country. Through Brightstar Own, we are now evolving our model into a format where company-owned locations will offer value-based sourcing mechanisms and innovation hubs for AI and other technological advances,” said Shelly Sun, Founder and CEO of Brightstar Care. “We designed Brightstar Owned to that it reflects where the industry is going and to fulfill our brand mission. Brightstar Owned will expand our reach, make home care more accessible and increase the number of clients we can serve across a diverse mix of providers. Ultimately, we look forward to contributing to our franchisees and sharing experiences to lead the industry in the transformation towards better care in the home, with reimbursement linked to Brightstar Care’s positive results. ,
“I’m honored to be working with Brightstar Owned to continue to grow the eight regions that have been part of my business over the past 7 years. And look forward to working with Brightstar’s brightest business people to rapidly grow our network.” Owning Brightstar gives us the opportunity to integrate, learn, document and take risk effectively. We will now be able to dream big and grow our business because we will have a lot more resources and expertise to do that.”
With the takeover of the locations in Strasbourg, there are now 13 Brightstar-owned locations across the country. Brightstar Care franchisees wishing to convert their agencies into Brightstar-owned locations have the option to sell the business above market value and remain part of the leadership team. This is an attractive proposition for franchisees approaching retirement and looking to expand operations. For more information on Brightstar Care, visit
