BERTHOUD, Colo. (KDVR) – A small business was the target of a theft and the entire crime was caught on video.
The video shows a thief throwing rocks through a window, entering the building and stealing cash and other items.
“It takes your safe place and makes you feel like you’re not safe anymore,” said Amanda Thorstenen, owner of Joyful Brew.
This person was caught on camera breaking into the store on Thursday.

“Two windows were smashed and about $250, like loose change, rolled coins were stolen, two floor fans and that was it,” Thorstensen said.
The video clearly shows the man trying to enter the store.
“(He) shows up and tries to open one of the drive-through windows,” Thorstensen said.
He was unsuccessful in this attempt and was actually hit in the face by a piece of the window, which flew back at him.
“He seems very angry because he smashes this window and doesn’t even try to enter the building,” Thorstensen said.
Eventually he managed to break into the store.
“He immediately goes to the other window and picks up a stone and throws it through the other window,” said Thorstensen.
The thief caused unnecessary damage, Thorstensen said, just to commit a crime.
“The window he climbed into is right next to a door, he could have easily got in and opened a door,” Thorstensen said.

Thorstensen is sad to see the video, but he finds some comfort in it.
“I’m almost grateful he found the money right away so he didn’t destroy things to look for something he wasn’t looking for because we don’t have huge amounts of money just to give people change. Enough is enough,” said Thorstensen.
Because of the robbery, she couldn’t open her shop that day.
“The hardest thing for me that day was turning people away, there was glass everywhere, so I couldn’t give anything to anyone even if they showed up,” Thorstensen said.
A fundraiser was organized to help with the loss and many people on Facebook have supported Thorstenson and Joyful Brew.
“I am completely amazed at the goodness of the community I belong to,” said Thorstensen.
