California Virus Cases To Notice A Surge, Governor Intends

The Governor of California received the Covid-19 vaccine booster short and suggested others do the same as the state has noticed the chances of the spike in Covid-19 cases.

As the festive season is near and witnessing the charts of last year, the Governor is taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. It’s the same time of year when the Covid-19 cases observed the deadliest spike last year.

Although, the situation is completely changed now as 88% of the adult population of the state has received at least a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Millions have survived the difficult times even after contracting the virus and have developed a natural immunity to tackle it. Although, no one knows how long this immunity will last.

Still, the number of unvaccinated people counts to millions. And the new cases and hospitalization rates have flattened after a steady decline of two months. It indicates that the festive season comes with the risk of more spread of the virus bringing in more cases and more hospitalizations towards the end of next month, which raises great concern.

The Governor of California Gavin Newsom took the booster shot and shared his experience. He stated that the shot was painless and there were no side effects even after the 15 minutes of the shot indicating that the shot is secure. He also added, “It’s the most crucial time of the year where we all need to be on guard.”

After the summer surge of delta virus, California noticed a steady decline in the Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. Although the cases and hospitalizations are expected to rise by the end of next month. The charts show a decline in intensive care patients, while the deaths are expected to witness a surge. The troubling curve can start to take a raise in the upcoming two weeks.

The factor that determines the spread of the virus is termed R-effective. It remains below 1 when calculated statewide, although it has been creeping since the last month. Any rating under 1 implies the infected person will decrease while higher than 1 indicates the infected person will rise. In the current situation, the numbers are far less than last year’s readings, still, the ball can turn anytime and it’s crucial to be alert and cautious.

Witnessing last year’s scenario and current situations, experts suggest that building up string immunity is important. The mandatory vaccine drive is run all across the state to limit the spread and secure the population. Besides, the small doses of Pfizer vaccines have received approval from the federal government for children of age 5 to 11 years.

And the shots will start as soon as the end of next week. About 3.5 million children will be eligible to take the vaccine which covers around 9% of the total population.

The governor states that mandatory vaccine orders have increased the rate of vaccination from 62% to 67%. He further adds, “The state is doing everything that needs to be done. So, we are on the plus side of the growth and security of the population.”
