Covid-19 Infection Rate Lowest In California

California saw a sudden dip in the number of cases. Puerto Rico is reporting more than 100 cases per one lakh people. The transmission rate in Puerto Rico is high.

The rate of transmission in California is 96 cases per one lakh people. The transmission rate in Texas and Florida are 386 and 296 cases per one lakh people, respectively.

Experts believe that the high vaccination rates in California before transmission of the Delta variant are responsible for the results.

California took additional measures as masking it played an essential role in controlling the surge.

High vaccination rates are the prime reason for the control over the surge. At least 70% of the eligible population of California is fully vaccinated. Apart from this, nearly 8% have got their first vaccine dose.

Professor Dr. Kristen said the secret to controlling the surge in California is the timely vaccination of most people. California never saw the peak even nearly equal to Florida.

California implemented a mandate on Monday. It mandates the attendees at indoor events with 1,000 or more people to produce their vaccination certificates.

People were earlier allowed to attend events if they attested that they were vaccinated or produced a negative Covid-19 report.

Over the past two weeks, the number of new Covid-19 cases in California was reducing. New Covid-19 cases were down by 32%,  and hospitalizations were low by 22%.

The state earlier experienced a summer surge of new Covid-19 cases. The surge appeared as the state lifted limits from multiple businesses in June. This was followed by a severe winter surge. The officials then shut schools and shops. The state with a population of 40 million reported thousands of deaths every week. Hospitals were filled with Covid-19 patients. There were no beds available for other patients. Hospitals were bound to work beyond their capacity.

The death toll of California is still the largest in the United States. California has 68,000 reported Covid-19 deaths. But when seen per capita death toll, it is far behind half of the U.S.

Professor Andrew says the improving condition is because of both high vaccination and immunity caused by the winter surge. California’s Los Angeles County is implementing the strictest virus mandates. It resides one-fourth of the total population of the state.

Dr. Regina says the rate of hospitalization and new covid-19 cases are reducing in Los Angeles. She added that the positivity rate dipped from 6.8% to 3.7% towards August end.

She expresses her happiness as Los Angeles seems to come out of the surge. She believes that vaccination was highly effective in controlling the rise in Covid-19 cases.

Scientists believe that the Covid-19 will always stay among humans. It will be a seasonal bug if human immunity builds up by vaccination and repeated infection. This process will take a long time. Biologist Rustom Antia foresees an optimistic scenario and says it will be as mild as getting cold in a few years.

The highly contagious Delta variant is all over the United States now. The Delta Variant is responsible for the surge in the number of Covid-19 infections.

The number of deaths per day in the United States is as high as 1,900 on average. It is more than it was in March.
