Covid Cases Decreased By 60% Since Delta Peak

Since the highly infectious Delta variant of the coronavirus got to its peak in September, a significant drop in the hospitalization and death rates due to the Covid-19 virus in the United States of America.

But, according to the leading health experts, it is not the time to sit comfortably as many children are still ineligible to get vaccinated and the cases are still relatively high.

Also, with the cold weather coming, people would have to be more careful.

According to the director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, she stated in a White House briefing conducted on Wednesday that they are on the right track for fighting the coronavirus, but people are not expected to become relaxed as there is still a relatively high number of cases and with the coming of the cold and dry months, people need to exercise more precaution.

Covid Cases Decreased By 60% Since Delta Peak

When the Delta variant was spreading its dominance during the early summer, the infection, hospitalization, and death rates took a steady increase. But all three of them are on a constant decline at present.

According to data received from John Hopkins University, the average number of new Covid-19 cases per day in the United States, as recorded over the past week, has been 69,011, which has decreased as much as sixty percent from the peak time of the Delta variant during the mid-September, when the average cases were as high as 127,531.

The current average has gone below by a significant difference when compared with the all-time high achieved by the country, which was an average of 251,800 new cases per day during the middle of January when the vaccine had been newly introduced.

People are already assuming if the worst of the Covid-19 virus is over, after watching the current rates on decline and months of vaccinations that have taken place.

The wave of the Delta variant of the coronavirus could have been the last major wave to prevail, and it is all due to the countless vaccinations being done each day, which is helping to stop any new kind of variant that is trying to break our immunity, as stated by Dr, Scott Gottlieb, a former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration

He also stated that numbers can rise again, but there is no chance of the rates going as high as during the wave of the Delta variant if no other dangerous variant shows up. He speculated that the virus could settle into being seasonal, with increased cases during the winters as cold and dry air could help in the spread of the infection.

According to CDC, around sixty-nine percent of the adults in the United States are fully vaccinated. Gottlieb, also a member of Pfizer’s board of directors, states that the vaccination rates can be higher and can be taken to approximately eighty-five percent of adults for the prevention of another attack by any other variants like Delta.

On the other hand, some experts are more cautious about the fact that the United States has seen the worst yet.
