Tropical fruits, known for their medicinal and nutritional properties, can be found at the Shanghai Huizan Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market after passing through phytosanitary and customs clearance.

The company is also in the process of sending another batch of avocados to the Chinese market as Kenya joins the league of Latin American countries like Mexico and Peru that export the tropical fruit to China.
Strict phytosanitary inspections by the China National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) at Shanghai International Airport, along with customs clearance by the General Administration of China, paved the way for the storage of fresh Kenyan avocados in the wholesale market.
The Kenyan agribusiness said its marketing agent in China, Halls Fresh Produce, has confirmed stocks of Haas avocado fruit in the wholesale market after a mandatory quarantine period.
“The Chinese community is a true friend of the people of Kenya, and this first shipment of fresh avocado fruit will strengthen those ties,” said Lifan Yu, an executive at Hall Fresh Produce in China.
In early January, Kenya and China signed two protocols to facilitate bilateral trade, mainly in the export of avocados and aquatic products.
On Tuesday, another Kenyan company, SunRip, in partnership with its Chinese counterpart, Greechain, shipped a shipment of fresh avocados to the Asian nation at a ceremony held on the outskirts of the central Kenyan city of Limuru. End
