Can A High Fructose Diet Affect The Immune System To A Greater Extent?

What is fructose?

Fructose is a crystalline sugar that is more dissolvable and sweeter. It is a natural sugar present in fruits, certain vegetables, honey, etc. These are widely used not just for the production of food but even as a taste enhancer.

Can A High Fructose Diet Affect The Immune System To A Greater Extent?

As reported by a new study, the immune system’s malfunctioning is due to a diet high in sugar fructose, which prevents the immune system of people from functioning properly. In recent years, the scale of consumption and intake has been growing substantially.

Can A High Fructose Diet Affect The Immune System To A Greater Extent?

High Fructose Cron Syrup (HFCS) is a manufactured sweetener that is made from cornflour. The origin of cornflour is from corn, which has an abundant quantity of fructose.

HFCS became an unfair advantage for many foods and soft-drink manufacturers out there, and they began using it to sweeten their product without worrying about public welfare.

However, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the is no confirmation that foods containing are less safer than the other sweeteners available.

It is strange to know the fact that HFSC is present in frozen pizza and salad dressing as well.

Does the consumption of fructose affect the human body?

Inflammation is the immune system’s response to harmful stimuli that are vital to health. Culturing human dendritic cells in fructose led to high inflammation.

When the immune system is inflamed due to fructose, it produces more reactive molecules associated with the immune system, resulting in the immune system’s improper functioning.

High-consumption of fructose foods can also lead to chronic diarrhoea and multiple other diseases, including liver disease.

Excess fructose may increase harmful substances called advanced glycation end products, which may harm your cells to an extreme level.

Fructose also contributes to weight gain, body fat, and physical inactivity. It increases blood levels of uric acid that leads to gout and high blood pressure.

The liver gets pumped up when people eat a diet that is high in calories (containing fructose) and convert into fat. It can also cause cancer and heart diseases.

Fructose might promote overeating as it doesn’t suppress appetite as much as glucose does.

Sugar may help to promote the production of inflammatory cytokines by adjusting cellular metabolic pathways.

It has dire consequences. It can lead to improper functioning of organs, damage cells and tissues of the human body.

It is considered that fructose is more damaging to health than glucose.

We need to understand the effects of the consumption of HSFC. Positively, fructose could link to obesity as inflammation is often correlated with this condition.

It is associated with obesity, type-2 diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases.

Precautions that one must firmly follow:

There is no treatment to cure hereditary fructose intolerance. Moreover, a person is supposed to be health-conscious and avoid a high fructose diet as much as possible.

One must avoid following fructose foods such as juices, apples, grapes, watermelon, asparagus, peas, and zucchini.

It is crucial to find out foods with no fructose. However, some fruits have lower fructose. Blueberries, strawberries, bananas, carrots, and avocados can be considered as softer fructose foods.
