Sometime between 1646 and 1648, King Charles I gave John Farrington a land grant for a 1,000-acre tract of land in what is now modern Dedham. It turned out not a moment too soon when he was executed in January 1649 the following year.
However, the Farrington family settlement remains at 769 East St., the oldest house on the property. And although it was partially gutted and renovated due to a fire – hey, it’s over 300 years old – the house retains its pristine character and distinctive quirks.
Elegantly vintage, this four bedroom, two bath condo is spread over two levels at just under 3,500 square feet. Eight wood-burning fireplaces grace the home, but none is quite as special as the formal dining room – the original kitchen fireplace with a spacious hearth and beehive.
