Public Holidays in July 2022: There are 14 public holidays in July 2022, two of which were used on the occasion of the Rath Yatra in the past week and due to the weekend public holidays. All public and private sector lenders in India will see a new set of bank holidays as the month of July has already started. With 14 public holidays in July 2022, the Reserve Bank of India has already made the list of public holidays. According to the RBI list, the bank holidays have started.
The 14 bank holidays in July include weekends and various festivals declared public holidays by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Negotiable Instruments Act. The RBI holiday calendar shows that apart from the weekends, the schedule will vary in different cities across the country.
It should be noted that many public holidays are regional and may vary from state to state and bank to bank. According to the calendar, eight regional public holidays and seven weekends are bank holidays, but Bakrid, a regional public holiday for Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, falls on July 9. It is also the second Saturday of the month when all banks are closed. Therefore, July 9th is a public holiday, which means that there are 14 public holidays in July. For this reason, July 9th can be called a bank holiday.
The Reserve Bank establishes bank holidays each year in three categories, including Negotiable Instruments Act Holidays, Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays and bank account closures. Of these, the holiday category has the highest number of Negotiable Instruments Act holidays. However, the public holidays under this law are not uniform across the country.
There are 12 public holidays left in July. Check them out below.
