Why do we celebrate Independence Day?
Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th every year in the United States of America.
The national holiday commemorates the passing of the Declaration of Independence by Congress on July 4, 1776.
In 1775, the 13 American colonies declared a war of independence against Great Britain.
about the fourth of July
The British lived in America since 1587 and exploited its resources such as tobacco and tea.
Tensions between British and Americans began to rise as the British government pushed for its own financial gains and continued to exploit American goods through taxation.
Samuel Adams, the founding father and leader of the Sons of Liberty organization, and his men boarded three ships in Boston Harbor and dumped 342 cases of tea into the water.
This became known as the Boston Tea Party of 1773.
Tensions over taxation of tea and other products also led to other acts of violence.
The Boston Tea Party was one of the key events that started the American Revolutionary War.
In 1775, the 13 colonies of America declared a war of independence against Britain, and on July 4, 1776, Congress officially passed the Declaration of Independence.
It is one of 11 federal holidays and is recognized by the government nationwide.
July 4th became a federal holiday in 1870.

How do Americans celebrate Independence Day?
The Fourth of July celebration has taken various forms over the centuries.
At Bristol, Rhode Island, on the morning and evening of July 4, 1777, there was a 13-gun salute.
And in 1778, George Washington, then General of the Revolutionary Army, doubled his soldiers’ rations for the celebrations.
Nowadays, fireworks are one of the most common ways to celebrate Independence Day.
Demonstrations take place in every major city and the White House even puts on its own show on the South Lawn.
Typically, the 4th of July is a time of spending time with family and friends, hosting barbecues, watching fireworks and parades while being surrounded by a large crowd of red, white and blue stars and stripes furnishings. Hm.
