and we are together again Broad+Liberty Candidate Spotlight Series! Each week we reach out to candidates for public office across the Commonwealth – an equal number of Democrats and Republicans; incumbent and challenger. We ask you one question a week about public order that puts you under pressure. For those who choose to respond, their responses will be shared on our website every Wednesday through Sunday.
Earlier this week, we presented the answers of our candidates for US Senator, US Congress, General Assembly and Governor. Today, Pennsylvania’s nominee for lieutenant governor steps in to discuss inflation.
If you are a candidate for public office in Pennsylvania and would like to participate, please contact [email protected]
This week’s question: Gas and food costs have increased significantly for PA families. What concrete plans do you have to lower these prices? Would you encourage our state’s power generation to lower the cost of shipping the products on which our economy depends?
Austin Davis (D), running with Josh Shapiro
Josh and I have criss-crossed this Commonwealth, from Scranton and Wilkes-Barre to Lewisburg and Altuna, listening to the people of Pennsylvania how rising costs are affecting their lives. As the proud son of a union bus driver and a hairdresser, I know these struggles all too well – they are real and we have seen them in our own families.
Josh and I have a plan to boost our economy, support our high streets, attract new businesses, and help working families in Pennsylvania by cutting costs and putting money in their pockets. We will give every Pennsylvanian a $250 gas tax refund, eliminate the state cell phone tax, and expand the property tax and rent waiver program to provide direct relief to families across the Commonwealth.
Josh and I have a clear track record of delivering results for working class Pennsylvanians in Pennsylvania and improving the lives of ordinary people here, and that’s what we will do as the government team in Harrisburg.
Carrie Lewis Delroso (R), running with Doug Mastriano
The Maastriano Plan envisages full support for our state’s energy production. Pennsylvania has the potential to become an energy-producing powerhouse that will not only lower costs for the people of Pennsylvania, but allow us to lead the way in energy independence. Unfortunately, Governor Wolf has targeted the energy industry from day one, and Democrat Josh Shapiro has gone so far as to criminalize energy producers.
Now Gov Wolf’s new carbon tax – the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), approved by Josh Shapiro – is doing even more damage to the breach and will crush families even more through higher electricity bills. enough is enough. First of all, Doug Mastriano will kick us out of RGGI immediately. Second, we must encourage and support Pennsylvania’s tremendous energy potential, which will reduce energy costs, create jobs and ease the burden on Pennsylvania households. The Maastriano Delroso administration will support our energy producers and not criminalize them like Josh Shapiro did.
