The theatrical release of the film Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE ST☆RISH TOURS is scheduled for September 2, 2022. The film project has been busy with updates over the past few days.

A preview of Shinomiya Natsuki’s song was revealed today. Titled Ai wo Bonapetti (Love is bon appétit), the lyrics are by Noriyasu Agematsu (That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime) and the composition/arrangement by Hitoshi Fujima (Elements Garden).

Slated for release on June 15th, the CD will include three additional songs and is one of 7 Uta no Prince-sama: Maji LOVE ST☆RISH TOURS Idol Song Series CDs.

The remaining CDs in the series will go on sale as follows:

Uta no Prince-sama (うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪, Princes of Song) is a multimedia franchise created by Broccoli. It was originally an Otome video game released on PlayStation Portable in June 2010. Due to the tremendous popularity it garnered, the game has since grown into a full blown franchise that has spawned several sequels and spin-offs.

Uta no Prince-sama Otome and spin-off games

To date, there are six Uta no Prince-sama Otome games:

  • Uta no Prince-sama (June 24, 2010). On August 11, 2011, the game was released for PlayStation Vita under the title Uta no Prince-sama Repeat
  • Uta no Prince-sama: Amazing Aria (December 23, 2010)
  • Uta no Prince-sama: Sweet Serenade (February 10, 2011)
  • Uta no Prince-sama debut (May 24, 2012)
  • Uta no Prince-sama All Star (March 7, 2013)
  • Uta no Prince-sama All Star After Secret – a sequel to Uta no Prince-sama All Star (March 12, 2015)

Following the success of the original games, Broccoli has released a number of spin-off music rhythm games, some of which have been translated into English:

  • Uta no Prince-sama Music (November 24, 2011)
  • Uta no Prince-sama Music 2 – a sequel to Uta no Prince-sama Music (September 5, 2013)
  • Uta no Prince-sama Music 3 (January 28, 2015) was released for PlayStation Vita
  • Uta no Prince-sama Shining Live (27 August 2017) was released for iOS and Android. The global release (Japanese and English) co-developed by Broccoli and KLab took place on January 24, 2018

The games have been adapted into several manga series, drama CDs, and stage plays.

Uta no Prince sama anime

The first anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures – Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 1000% (うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪ マジLOVE1000%) – aired in 2011.

The second season, titled Uta no Prince-sama Maji LOVE 2000% (うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪マジLOVE2000%), premiered in 2013.

The third season, titled Utano☆Princesama Revolutions (うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪マジLOVEレボリューションズ), premiered in 2015.

The fourth season, titled Utano☆Princesama Legend Star, premiered in 2016.

Uta no Prince-Sama: Maji Love Kingdom PV 1

After the success of the anime, the first Uta no Prince-sama animated film was released (2019). The film, titled Uta no Prince-Sama: Maji Love Kingdom, was directed by Tomoka Nagaoka (Kokoro Connect) with Takeshi Furuta (Haikyuu!!) serving as the executive director. After that, the film got an English sub and was shown at Anime Expo 2019.

Sentai Filmworks has licensed all four TV anime seasons and the animated film Uta no Prince-Sama: Maji Love Kingdom.

Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love ST☆RISH Tours: What we know so far

Finally, Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love Kingdom will be followed by the theatrical version of Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love ST☆RISH Tours, which as mentioned above will premiere on September 2, 2022.

The film has been described as part of a “new theatrical series” and will consist entirely of footage from the idol group ST☆RISH. Broccoli and Noriyasu Agematsu are credited as the original creators, with Elements Garden composing the music. A-1 Pictures is producing the film, which will be distributed by Shochiku Films.
