GREENSBORO, NC – A retired North Carolina businessman is offering his $5.7 million custom mansion, one of the most expensive homes on the market in the state.
The reason? He and his family fell in love with Florida.
Ruth Williams and her husband Jeff Brunner built the Greensboro home at 301 Wentworth Drive in the venerable Irving Park neighborhood.
He bought the vacant lot in 2017 and started building a new home, Williams said.
“We love a project. We like to make the best of it,” she says.
Williams and Brunner, known for their textile business in the High Point area, traveled to Europe and wanted to model their Greensboro home as it would be seen in France.
Williams envisions a more professional, enterprising family moving to the Greensboro area to take on the next mansion.
Williams sees Greensboro as North Carolina’s next hub of innovation as Toyota brings a battery manufacturing plant to the area and boom supersonic jets choose Triad as one of their first locations.
“We designed the second floor for two professionals, where two people have a home office,” she said.
Williams said one of the offices has a 600-square-foot closet and the other has a 400-square-foot closet intended for working professionals who need a lot of business attire.
Williams said: “I think what makes this an exceptional luxury home is the quality of materials, the functionality for a professional or couple, all the technology built in, the perfect home for entertaining – and last but not least. No — aesthetics,” Williams said.
The house is also ideally located for hosting large dinner parties, William said.
A recent report from RedFin shows that US luxury home sales are falling as economic uncertainty among the wealthy lingers and the stock market holds.
But when asked about the state of the luxury housing market, Williams, a retired real estate appraiser and sales agent, said she was hopeful.
“People who have that kind of money usually always have that kind of money,” she said.
One of the most popular parts of William’s home is the wet bar, which is right next to her bedroom.
