Niagara Power will play his part in the fight against cancer on Saturday at Sal Magali Stadium.
The Collegiate Baseball franchise, owned and operated by Niagara University, is hosting a Power Against Cancer game at 1:00 p.m. against the Batavia McDougs, one of their Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League opponents.
Power players and coaches will wear special uniforms that will be auctioned off during the game. There’s also a Miracle Minute bucket pass for fans who want to donate. All proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society.
Cancer survivors receive free entry and will be recognized during the game.
“Niagara Power is proud to give back to the community in which they play,” Power Director of Operations James Rohl said in a press release. “With that in mind, we are grateful to partner with the American Cancer Society for a for-profit sport that will provide significant funding for research and patient services. Starting with this July game, we hope this partnership becomes one of our best annual promotions and something our local community can be proud of.
“Power Against Cancer is a great way for us to celebrate local breast cancer survivors and raise significant funds for our breast cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services programs,” said Kejo Lavre, senior development manager at ACS. “We are excited about this partnership with Niagara Power. We are excited about Power’s potential to become a signature game and have a great day raising awareness and funds for the fight against cancer.”
Power are 9-17 on the season, eighth in the West Division of the PGCBL. They have 18 games left, including tonight with the Newark Pilots. Saturday is the first of eight remaining national competitions.
