Recall Of Neutrogena And Aveeno Spray Sunscreen
Recall Due To Precautionary Measures
The levels of benzene were found to be quite low. However, it may have bad effects on the skin. J&J is already reeling under the bad publicity of baby talc. They were said to contain asbestos, which is harmful to babies.
The products on the list of a recall are Neutrogena Beach Defense aerosol sunscreen, Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport aerosol sunscreen, Invisible Daily Defense aerosol sunscreen, Ultra Sheer aerosol sunscreen, and Aveeno aerosol sunscreen.
The products are not limited to the U.S. alone. Almost all online platforms stock these products. So, it is a sign to consumers out of reach, to stop using these products at the earliest. The company has stressed the use of alternative sunscreen lotions that can guard against melanoma. J&J has started an inquiry to find out, how benzene got into these products. However, another product from the same brand, Neutrogena Wet Skin, was not included in the recall.
A few weeks ago, Online Pharmacy and laboratory Valisure had conducted tests on 78 such products. Mostly, they were aerosols. The reports were also submitted to the FDA. The presence of benzene may be attributed to some loopholes in the manufacturing process. The contamination process needs further study. Reports of Washington University say that it is a manufacturing issue completely.
