In New York, the mask mandate and vaccine requirements are under implementation for the school staff members and students. The school students and staff members are required to wear a mask at all times. The staff members must take at least their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by September 27.
Schools are deciding to open when many areas in the country are facing a surge in Covid-19 cases. Hospitals are under the impact of the increased number of patients. Vaccine mandates are impacting the number of staff members in rural areas.
A hospital in the rural area of New York city paused its maternity services as the staff members quit jobs due to the vaccine mandate.
The CEO of the hospital said, “ we will not continue with maternity services after September 24 till the shortage prevails.” The decision is temporary and will be changed as soon as there are enough staff members.
It is for the first time that the Lewis County General hospital will pause delivering babies. The hospital is undergoing a staff shortage as six employees have resigned, and seven more are reluctant to take the vaccine shot.
Vaccine mandates across the United States are creating havoc among various medical setups. Instead of getting the vaccine shot, workers are quitting their jobs.
AHCA & NCAL’s June report showed that most nursing homes lost their key workers last year due to vaccine mandates. A large number of health care workers were quitting their jobs due to vaccination mandates.
The decision is temporary and will be changed as soon as there are enough staff members.
The hospital CEO said that we are focusing on recruiting nurses to get baby deliveries to resume in the hospital.
Houston Methodist was one of the first hospitals to impose such restrictions. The hospital lost 153 workers, as they were either terminated or resigned after the vaccination requirement.
On August 16, the former Gov. Of New York made vaccination mandatory for all health care workers. It is now necessary for all health care workers to take at least their first shot by September 27.
The New York Department of Health passed an emergency regulation on August 27. The White House made Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for all health care workers. The decision comes when the United States is observing a spike in the Covid-19 case.
According to Johns Hopkins University data, the United States reported about 41 million confirmed Covid-19 cases and around 6,60,000 deaths.
The global total of reported Covid-19 cases is more than 224 million, and the number of deaths is around 4.6 million.
According to the CDC, about 53.8% of the American population have taken their vaccine shots.
