Though they’ve now become common, partnerships between snack food makers and fast-food companies didn’t really begin until Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos tacos.
Made from the same material as cheesy, crispy chips, the taco shell quickly gained cult status and sparked a craze that continues to this day.
Just in the last few months have we seen Krispy Kreme DNUT and Cinnamon Toast Crunch from General Mills GIS, Pepsi PEP-flavored pizza and Buffalo Wild Wings BWLD Sauce from Doritos by Frito-Lay.
It all started on reddit
Given the popularity of Loco’s Tacos, Yum! brand (Yama) – Yum! Taco Bell, owned by Brands Inc. Reports, has a high bar to meet and a large following of fans who follow the smallest of menu updates.
And rumor has it that the Tex-Mex chain is once again living up to people’s fondness for cheesy stuff.
On June 22nd, a Reddit user posted an image of a Taco Bell menu from Irvine, California, which included two never-before-seen items: a giant Cheez-It and a tostada on crunchwrap that looks like one big Chee-It . .
The photo was met with squeals of approval from those who followed Taco Bell’s subreddit.
User u/james_the_human05 wrote, “Why are there many things – when you can only have one – her.”
“Okay, but listen to me, the big thing is going to be crunchwrap fire,” wrote u/hypocrite thinker. “Everyone thought Doritos Loko [sic] Was a bad idea and now here we are, permanent menu item.”

a Kellogg (K) – As brand The Kellogg Company reports, cheddar-flavored crackers have a certain place in American food culture – many have fond memories of eating cheese – after school or at lunchtime.
The nostalgia factor can be a powerful marketing tool as they appeal to both the curious and those who have fond memories of eating as children.
“The Cheez-It is literally a sophisticated Cheez-It cracker!” writes one Reddit user who claims to have tried both Tostada and Crunchwrap. “Anyone who likes cheese will love the tostada. As a cheese lover I would come back even for this tostada because it was delicious!”
What else is happening at Taco Bell?
Among the new menu items that have actually been confirmed, Taco Bell also recently launched Mango Freeze and Mango Whip Freeze — mango-based frozen drinks that are launching just in time for summer.

The Big Cheese-It Tostada also follows a long-standing infestation of Mexican pizza. Fans repeatedly requested the return of an item that should be considered limited-time; Taco Bell brought it back but had to quickly remove it from the menu after overestimating how many people wanted to buy it.
Hopefully that doesn’t happen with the yet-to-be-confirmed Cheez-It item, but as the above incident demonstrated, it can be difficult to predict which limited-edition dish will be bubbling and bubbling. What will become a cult classic remembered for generations.
“Our menu is full of fan favorites, but Mexican pizza is at the top of that list,” Taco Bell CEO Mark King said in a statement.
