Tesla Insurance is an affordable insurance product that offers Tesla owners a new option.
Tesla has a unique understanding of its vehicles, technology, safety features and repair costs, which helps eliminate some of the fees associated with traditional insurance carriers. Tesla Insurance offers a convenient monthly payment and easily manages claims through the Tesla app.
You’re also in control, in part because your insurance premium is based in part on your driving habits.
Where can Tesla insurance be obtained?
The service is currently only available in select US states, but will continue to expand to additional states. Tesla CEO Elon Musk says it will also expand into Canada in the future.
Tesla Insurance is currently available to Tesla owners in the following states:
Who can get Tesla Insurance?
New and current Tesla owners can purchase an insurance policy in the Tesla app by tapping the profile icon in the top right corner and selecting “Get Tesla Insurance”.
If you recently placed an order for a Tesla, you must wait for a VIN to be assigned before ordering Tesla Insurance.
Tesla insurance not only covers Tesla vehicles, but also any other vehicle that you own.
You can add more vehicles when submitting the policy.
However, Tesla insurance is currently limited to vehicles, and Tesla does not offer home insurance or other types of insurance policies.
What do you get with Tesla Insurance?
With Tesla Insurance, you can view documents, invoices, payment details, and make claims through the Tesla app.
As with other insurance companies, there are a variety of plans with different levels of coverage depending on your needs.
How does Tesla Insurance work?
Tesla collects data from the vehicle that helps evaluate how the vehicle is being driven.
Unlike other insurance products, Tesla does not require any additional tools to be installed in the vehicle. Instead, Tesla uses built-in features to determine how often a vehicle is driven and how often a driver drives too close or stops abruptly.
This data is then used to help determine the driver’s insurance premium.
The insurance premium also affects the model of the vehicle, the location of the insured, and the distance traveled by the vehicle.
Tesla insurance users typically make monthly payments based on their driving behavior and not factors used by other insurance providers such as creditworthiness, age, gender, claims history and driving behavior.
tesla insurance cost
Each insurer has different factors in determining their costs and the likelihood of their customers being involved in an accident. While Tesla Insurance can save you money, it can cost you more than the options available in your state.
According to Tesla, “The average driver can save between 20% and 40% and the safest driver can save between 30% and 60%.”
We’ve seen scenarios where Tesla Insurance can save someone hundreds of dollars a month, but we’ve also seen it cost significantly more than its competitors.
There are many factors that determine your insurance premium. If you’re new to Tesla or haven’t bought anything in a few years, we recommend getting a free quote from Tesla to see if Tesla Insurance can save you money.
The Tesla insurance price is very low. Six cars with two plaids and my brother insured for $599 a month! 9,000 miles/car $500 comp, $1,000 bump. Progressive wanted over $1,000/month??♂️ @ Elon Musk pic.twitter.com/rAWDjoxJi8

The Model Y is one of the safest production vehicles as Tesla continues to take steps to improve its excellent safety rating.
The latest safety improvement comes from Tesla China, where Gigafactory Shanghai has started rolling out Model Ys with additional airbags.
The new airbag improves the overall safety of Model Y and can help prevent other occupants from colliding. With the new update, the Model Y manufactured by Giga Shanghai now comes standard with an additional far-side airbag.
Tesla officially announced the addition of new airbags for the China-made Model Ys on Weibo. The translation is:
“Design with safety first! Intelligently crafted, Tesla China Model Y comes standard with a “remote airbag” to protect your travel safety in every way. #Tesla For the safety of every consumer Smart security uses, and the safety gene is always the same #ThisisTesla
Additional side airbags are installed on the inside of the driver’s seat. When deployed, airbags can significantly reduce contact injuries between the people ahead in the event of a side crash. According to Euro NCAP, around 25% of traffic accidents are due to side impacts.
This update can make a big difference when it comes to side effect accidents where the occupants typically get stuck in each other.
The ability to add new airbags to the Made in China (MIC) Model Y is one of several recent upgrades to the Model Y production line at Gigafactory Shanghai. Based on this, we may soon add an additional far-side airbag to the Made in China Model 3, whose production lines in Giga Shanghai were also recently upgraded.
We may see this upgrade for other gigafactories around the world in the near future. As we’ve seen at other Tesla facilities, Tesla often adds a feature to one factory and then upgrades other factories when it can.

According to a tweet from founder and CEO Elon Musk, Tesla’s first electric semi truck will have a range of 500 miles and will ship later this year. Musk previously said the 2023 model will be on the streets alongside Tesla’s pickup truck, called the Cybertruck. Cybertruck’s Estimated Arrival Date has not changed.
The Tesla Semi Truck presented in November 2017 is designed for long-distance transport. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds while fully loaded, which is faster than most diesel trucks.
The Tesla Semi Truck’s 500-mile range on a single charge is more than double the range of the longest-ranging electric truck currently on the market, the Daimler Ekascadia, which has a range of 230 miles.
Tesla has said that the Tesla Semi Truck is also much cheaper than the diesel truck. The company estimates that the Tesla Semi will cost $1.26 per mile to operate, compared to $1.51 per mile for a diesel truck.
Since the company began taking orders for the truck in 2017, some of its largest orders have come from UPS, Walmart and PepsiCo. The initial deposit required to place an order was $5,000, which was increased to $20,000 after the November 2017 incident.
The company hasn’t revealed how many trucks it plans to produce, but based on previous statements from Tesla, we can expect 300-mile (480 km) and 500-mile (800 km) range versions for regular production versions. You can expect a price tag of $150,000. or $180,000.
Tesla’s tractor-trailer is part of the company’s effort to electrify the transportation sector, which is responsible for a significant chunk of greenhouse gas emissions. Tesla also makes electric cars and SUVs and plans to start production of its electric trucks next year. Tesla’s ultimate goal is to transition the world to sustainable energy.
