Given this reputation, Miller was paid a large sum of money. But like most NBA players, Miller got a little sloppy with his money.

Andre Miller is considered one of the lowest rated guards in NBA history. He was a Traveler, not because the teams didn’t want him. Instead, it was because Miller had leadership, maturity, and basketball ability — things every team expects in every player. Given this reputation, Miller was paid a large sum of money. But like most NBA players, Miller got a little sloppy with his money.

house party

Miller shared a funny story after securing a major contract in the NBA. He took a whopping $300,000 in cash and shared it with his family and friends at a house party.

“I get a contract and the right thing. I probably went to the bank. I still remember it. I had a party in Sacramento, a house party. I found a new house. I invited family and friends. I actually went to the bank in the US and according to the Knuckleheads podcast, Miller said, “Found $300,000.”

Miller’s actions are nothing new. NBA players get a lot of money when they’re drafted or when they’re a free agent. We’ve heard countless stories of NBA stars buying houses, getting their dream cars, or going on a shopping spree. There are quite a handful of NBA players who are broken for such antics.

two hours of sleep

Miller noted that he gave the money in separate envelopes with the name on them. He didn’t give everyone the same amount. Instead, Miller pointed out that some earn a higher amount than others. After delivering the envelopes, he took a quick nap and was shocked by what he saw after two hours of sleep.

“Boy, when I say family, my grandparents had 18-20 kids. If I tell you that everyone has come into the house. And I put all the bread away, then I found out I tripped. I gave everything. A way.”

“I came back [and saw] Fun at 20. You know all kinds of whips. Everyone had diamond earrings in their ears. And I only slept about two hours. I only slept two hours. The money was gone,” Miller said.

Miller said some of them even bought grills that were too big for them to even shut up. It’s a hilarious backstory. But it’s easy to imagine how horrified Miller was to find out $300,000 of his hard-earned cash was gone in an instant. Despite this, we can safely say that he was happy to share his blessings with his loved ones.
