In “Chicago Med” Season 1 Episode 16, “Disorder”, Choi is called to a hoarder’s home and finds a parrot flying free. The bird willingly perches on his finger and Dr. Choi takes him home, where the two immediately begin to bond. In Season 1 Episode 18, “Timing,” we see him take his new pet to the hospital, where he’s bouncing around the break table while Choi and Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) having lunch.
But a fan recently posted a photo of Choi and the parrot to the r/ChicagoMed subreddit, leading others to wonder why — despite their undeniable and instant friendship — we never see the bird again. No one could come up with a concrete answer, although u/DRUROX14 joked, “He gave up on him because he talked too much and decided to get a hamster.”
Redditor u/Givemeamop had no theory as to where the bird went but was more concerned about its original owner, writing: “What happened to the poor guy Choi stole it from? The guy wants his bird back.” However, Redditor u/Ur-Sine responded that the conditions in the man’s home were dangerous for the parrot, pointing out an apparent lack of food or water and noting that “unclean environments like that houses of [c]compulsive [h]Bird trappers can permanently damage a bird’s respiratory system.
While viewers disagree as to where the bird rightly resides, they seem united in their curiosity about its ultimate fate.
