Trump’s White House Rejected Advice On Covid

Deborah Birx told House lawmakers that Trump’s COVID-19 reaction resulted in numerous unnecessary deaths.

She claims that if Trump’s administration had followed science, over 130,000 lives may have been saved. Birx also testified that Trump was distracted from the epidemic by the 2020 election.

Trump’s White House Rejected Advice On Covid

In testimony to the House select subcommittee on the coronavirus epidemic, former White House COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx stated that former President Donald Trump’s attitude to the pandemic resulted in a significant number of needless fatalities.

According to parts of her testimony given by the committee on Tuesday, she responded no when asked if Trump did all in his power to stop the spread and preserve lives.

“And I’ve mentioned that in general to the White House, and I believe I was very explicit to the president in particular of what I required him to do,” she continued.

Birx, who appeared before the committee in mid-October, stated that had Trump’s White House followed the research and pushed for steps urged by experts, over 130,000 lives may have been spared in the early phases of the epidemic.

“I believe that if we had properly enforced the mask laws, reduced indoor eating, educated friends and family about the dangers of meeting in private houses, and enhanced testing, we could have reduced mortality by 30 percent to 40 percent,” Birx stated.

She also said that Trump was distracted by the 2020 election, diverting attention away from the country’s pandemic response.

“In my perspective, the governors, mayors, and others who were campaigning, as well as the White House, really diverted people’s time away from and distracted them from the epidemic,” Birx said. “They were actively campaigning and were not as visible in the White House as they had been previously.”

Insider reached out to Trump for comment, but he did not react right away.

From the beginning of the epidemic, Trump minimized the threat of COVID-19 and promoted falsehoods about the virus. He often defied public health advice, such as wearing a mask or hiding his face. During an interview with veteran journalist Bob Woodward, Trump revealed that he purposefully downplayed the virus’s dangers in order to avoid generating “panic.”

Top public health experts have chastised Trump’s pandemic reaction, claiming that it resulted in tens of thousands of avoidable deaths.

There had been over 400,000 recorded COVID-19 fatalities in the United States by the time Trump left office.

Naturally, Team Trump denies all of this because, like the 45th president, they live in a fantasy world where his response to the pandemic was a “ten.” “President Trump spearheaded an extraordinary effort to successfully tackle the coronavirus, sending PPE, hospital beds, treatments, and three vaccinations in record time,” said Liz Harrington, a Trump spokesperson.

Unfortunately, the current administration did not adopt this strategy, and more people have died from covid this year than in the entire year of 2020, for which the Fake News media throws no responsibility on Joe Biden.”
