When will Ayumu make his move? Storyline, release and more
The focus of the romantic comedy are the two main characters Urushi Yaotome and Ayumu Tanaka. Urushi and Ayumu are the only members of their school’s shogi club. Ayumu is a first-year student who vows to confess his feelings to Urushi after managing to defeat her in a shogi game.
Kodansha Comics describes the plot as follows:
“Yaotome is the president of the shogi club at her high school, and she’s pretty sure Ayumu, a junior high school student and the only other member of the club, has a huge crush on her. They meet up every day after school to play shogi, but no matter what she does, she can’t seem to get him to confess his feelings! What she doesn’t know is that Ayumu made a pact with himself to only reveal his love after beating Yaotome in shogi for the first time. But there’s a big problem with this plan…it really sucks!”
The anime series is an adaptation of the manga by Soichiri Yamamoto. Yamamoto launched the manga series in March 2019 in weekly Shonen Magazine. It currently has seven volumes published by Kodansha’s Ranobe Books imprint, with the eighth volume scheduled for release on July 16, 2022.
The studio production of the anime series will be handled by Silver Link.
